  • This is an account of my first two years in the Navy aboard the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Helena CA- 75.  I made WestPac cruises in 1956 and 1957, and in this short book I describe what life was like aboard ship, the work, the play, the chow, the pranks, and the ports of call.  It is a short fun read, and should be of interest to anyone that would like to know what the U.S. Navy was like half a century ago.

Lost History becomes a Classic Tale

The creative mind of author extraordinaire Jan E. Culbertson comes a military historic novel based on the life and legend of “The Last Mayan Warrior.” Jan takes a few know facts about a ten year old Mexican boy who was captured in 1896 by a Mayan war party. The child Juan Bautista Vega eventually gets adopted by a Mayan chieftain. This strange set of circumstances leads to this young boy becoming one of the greatest warriors of the Mayans. He goes on to command over ten thousand men in battle.

The author takes some creative license with the few known facts of this man’s life. Culbertson ends up creating a storyline that he fills in with his own imagination and dates, events and people that make for a wonderful tale if only based loosely on the real facts. However he stays close to the source of the man’s personality and tries to keep the story within the frame work of what transpired. His creative additions are enhancements that make the story a wonderful reading experience. This is story even more fascinating when you realize that it is based mostly on facts.

Jan Culbertson’s books all have been so different. He has done children’s books, sci-fi mystery books, even books on Chinese daggers but this one is clearly in a league all of its own. It is an easy read and is family friendly. It will hold your attention from the beginning to the end. Truly a case of a very good story that is expertly told by a master story teller! A must read book for anyone interested in Mexican or Indian history.

    Title:  CLONING JESUS

    Author: Jan E. Culbertson

The Cloning of Jesus, The Shroud of Turin, Murder and Rape – A Thrilling Tale!

Author Jan Culbertson’s innovated and very original tale “CLONING JESUS,” shows how science and people cross ethical and moral lines that lead to great misfortune with dangerous and fatal results. This book makes for great reading; you will never read another story or plot like this one.

This is a page turner and you will not want to put this book down until you have read the final sentences on that last page. It keeps your attention and interest throughout the entire book. When Culbertson’s leading character decides to clone a human being he ends up becoming a criminal in the process. He wants to clone not just another human being but the Son Of God himself—Jesus Christ! This leads him to seek out “The Shroud of Turin” to get DNA from the old blood stains. I do not want to spoil a great plot with lots of details but there are many twists and turns and they do end until you have finished the entire book.

I think this book will appeal to readers from many different genre of books including sci-fi, mystery, crime and thrillers. This book is for more mature readers as there are some portions that are not suitable for young readers.
